this is difficult to estimate as the overall length of time can depend on a number of factors some of which may well be outside your or our control : general guide :
freehold house
| submission of draft contract papers to exchange | : four to six weeks |
| exchange to completion | : one to two weeks |
leasehold flat
| submission of draft contract papers to exchange | : six to eight weeks |
| exchange to completion | : one to two weeks |
this timescale can of course, be quicker or slower depending on the parties in the chain : for example : first time buyer at the bottom of the chain / new build property at the top of the chain
